Following training at the then Salford College of Technology (1983-1986) I started working for the NHS in Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde. I left NHS employment in 2004 to
enter full-time private practice, having been part-time in both for many years.
During my years with the NHS I developed my knowledge and skills and worked with a great team of people. I developed a special interest in biomechanics, which is
essentially the analysis of the mechanics of motion. This led to the development of a specialised NHS biomechanics service where I had a key role. I also spent a number of years manufacturing
orthoses for NHS clients at a local laboratory. This has contributed greatly to my knowledge of materials and their qualities when prescribing private orthoses or insoles.
Over the years I have worked with many of the local Orthopaedic Surgeons, Podiatric Surgeons, GP's, Physiotherapists and Chiropracters in both an NHS and private
capacity. I continue to build good working relationships with these colleagues - working together to the benefit of the client.
I practiced at the Queensway Medical Centre, Poulton, and North Shore Surgery, Bispham for a number of years prior to the pandemic. I have taken the opportunity to alter
my practice and now only provide a domiciliary service where treatment is provided within the clients own home.
I recognise that each person has their own unique set of foot problems so I aim to provide a service which is tailored to your needs. At your first appointment I will assess your needs, recommend a
treatment plan, initiate treatment and may offer advice on footwear and footcare. A treatment plan could be 'one-off' appointment or it could be a series of appointments. Rest assured that you will
be in good hands.
I am recognised by a number of the major health insurers, although for some the referral needs to be from a Consultant and not your General Practitioner. Receipts can be
provided for other health schemes such as Simply Health without referral required.
I am an active member of the Lancashire Branch of the College of Podiatry, which helps ensure continuing professional development and ongoing
training.
